about the comic

synopsis
cast & characters

What's all this then?

Would you call me a geek if I told you Eol and Kamrauch begin their fictional lives as RPG characters somewhere back in high school? You would? Oh, well... never mind then. ^_^

Dee's childhood love of comics – almost entirely extinguished by what used to be the only game in town, all that spandex'ed superhero crap – was explosively rekindled at her first fateful exposure to shoujo manga. She couldn't read it, but that banged up import of JET's London Ominous Town found at the bottom of a 2nd-hand bin in a dusty used bookstore did something to her that has yet to wear off. So she took a couple of old RPG characters, remade them in her imagination, sent them out to play – and hasn't looked back since.

webcomic:

published weekly since April 2004, OniKimono:Detectives of the Orient ran for 2 years at wirepop.com. In August 2006 OniKimono will join rocketpirates.com in an all new story!

in print:

wp: papercutsAn original 10 page OniKimono story is a proud portion of Wirepop: Papercuts, wirepop.com's 1st print anthology, including all new work by 9 Wirepop creators. Check it out here – and don't miss the 2 page freebie preview for each comic!

(That's the cover, left. Pencils by Svetlana Chmakova and color by Kelly Hamilton. Awesome, eh?!)

onikimono companion
You can find more OniKimono goodness in the OniKimono Companion, a 32 page guide to the series containing character bios, an excerpt from The Case of the Elf & the Amulet, and other bits & pieces...

including The Light That Hides in Darkness, an original short story about Kam and Eol's first fateful meeting by special guest author Qjeren.

Dee has also seen print as Svetlana Chmakova's tone monkey for her new book, DramaCon (published through TokyoPop), which you should preorder immediately because it RAWKS.

(Oh yeah, and Dee had to teach herself how to make comics before she was able to do any of this stuff. Take a look at the resources I assembled while doing this here: OniKimono's Resources for Comics Creators.)
